Extra Features For Family Cars

September 8, 2011 – Buying a good family car takes quite a bit of research in order to find the vehicle that will work best for your family. Most families want a vehicle that has enough space so that everyone in the family will fit comfortably. Fuel economy is also a concern. But there are a few other extras you should think about when searching for the perfect family car as well.

Cargo and storage space are something you should consider carefully in your search. A large trunk in a sedan or a large cargo area in a wagon can be invaluable when it comes time to haul sports equipment, bicycles, groceries, suitcases, etc. Other hidden storage areas around the vehicle can also be helpful such as pullout drawers under passenger seats and compartments in seat armrests. These will always come in handy for stashing needed items such as clean diapers and an extra change of clothes for emergencies.

Another handy feature to have in a family vehicle is a DVD player. Taking a road trip with kids can be a challenge if they don’t have something to occupy their attention. Many new vehicles come with the option of a DVD player installed. A player that comes with headphones for the kids is best so that you won’t be distracted while driving. While DVD players don’t need to be used for day-to-day driving, they can come in handy on a long drive.

Another great feature to have is a GPS navigating system. There are few things more frustrating than trying to navigate your way to a new location on your own while also dealing with needy children. Not only is it frustrating, it can be dangerous for you and other drivers on the road. An in-dash GPS system will help you get where you need to go without frustration and lost time. These extra features can be a huge benefit.
